Private by side
Women and men each get their own side. Nobody on the other side can open it, search it or even see that a post exists.
Coming to a city near you
Met someone on Hinge, Tinder or Bumble? Ask verified people in your area what they know, on a private side the person you’re asking about can never see.
Why now
For years, local dating-safety groups on Facebook were where people quietly checked on a match before a first date. Those groups are shutting down. Gotcha keeps what worked, people in your city looking out for each other, and fixes what never did.
Women and men each get their own side. Nobody on the other side can open it, search it or even see that a post exists.
Everyone passes a one-time ID and selfie check. No catfish, no fake accounts, no one under 18. We never keep your ID photos.
Every post is checked before it goes up. No phone numbers, addresses, last names, rumors or pile-ons. Just real experiences.
You see people from your own city, not the whole internet. Gotcha opens city by city, starting where the waitlist is biggest.
Safety & privacy
Dating-safety apps have leaked users’ IDs before. Gotcha was designed so there’s almost nothing to leak: we only keep what the app needs to work, and everything else is never collected or is deleted.
Stripe runs the ID and selfie check. Gotcha gets back a yes or no, your side and your birth year, and Stripe deletes the images right after. No ID photos are stored anywhere.
You post under a first name or nickname you choose. Other members never see your email, your last name or your photo.
Screenshots and screen recording are blocked on every screen with posts, so nothing gets passed around outside the app.
The other side can’t open, search or even detect your posts. They aren’t hidden; they don’t exist for them.
No advertisers, no data brokers, no tracking pixels. You pay $2.99 a month, so you’re the customer, not the product.
Delete your account from the app any time. Your login is erased, and your posts stay anonymous as “Former member”.
Phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, last names and social handles are blocked before anyone sees them. That protects everyone, including you.
Everything travels over HTTPS and is encrypted at rest on Microsoft Azure in the United States.
How it works
A quick ID and selfie check confirms you’re real, 18+, and puts you on your side.
First name, rough age, which app you met on, and what you want to know.
Members nearby share what dating them was actually like, good or bad. You get a ping when they reply.
House rules
Gotcha is for looking out for each other. The AI holds everyone to the same line.

Gotcha is a private iOS app for dating safety. ID-verified members in your area ask about someone they met on a dating app or in person, and other members share what dating that person was really like. It costs $2.99 a month and is opening city by city across the US.
No. Gotcha has a women’s side and a men’s side, with the same features and the same price. Each member belongs to one side, set by the ID check, and only ever sees posts from their own side.
Not from the other side. A man can never open the women’s side and a woman can never open the men’s side, and posts from the other side don’t even show up as hidden. Screenshots and screen recording are blocked on every screen with posts.
Every member does a one-time ID and selfie check through Stripe Identity before seeing anything. It confirms you’re a real person and 18 or older, and sets your side. Gotcha only gets back a yes or no, your side and your birth year, and Stripe deletes the ID images and selfie right after the check. Gotcha never stores ID photos.
Gotcha keeps as little as possible. It stores your email for sign-in, the nickname you post under, your side, your city and your birth year. It never stores ID photos or your real name, never shows other members your email, has no ads or trackers, and never sells data. Everything is encrypted in transit and at rest, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.
Other members on your side see only the first name or nickname you choose. Nobody on the other side can see you or your posts at all, and screenshots are blocked inside the app. Notifications are discreet and never show names, so nothing on your lock screen gives away what you’re reading.
Every post and reply is checked by AI before anyone sees it. Phone numbers, addresses, workplaces, last names, social media handles and license plates are blocked, along with anything about a minor, threats, sexual content, degrading insults, and serious accusations stated as fact or passed along secondhand. Members share what happened to them, give their opinion, or ask a question.
No. Gotcha is an independent app and isn’t affiliated with any Facebook group. It does the same job, people in your area looking out for each other, with ID verification, separate private sides and AI moderation that the Facebook groups never had.
Anyone can ask for a post about them to be reviewed through a public removal request, without an account. Members can also report any post or reply. A post that several members report is hidden until a person reviews it.
Gotcha is $2.99 a month, billed through the App Store. You can cancel any time in your iPhone settings. Paid, ID-verified membership is what keeps fake accounts out.
